英語の勉強をはじめました

10月1日から勉強を開始し、あと少しで3ヶ月になります。

20年近く前の話になりますが、受験英語はよくできる方でした。しかし長いこと、英語が口をついて出てきません。会話では役に立たないのです。狂おしいほどに。

脳みその奥底で、多くの語彙や文法が埃をかぶったままだったので、
古本屋の店主のように、毎日埃を払いました。復習です。

そして、オンライン英会話のレアジョブに取り組んでいます。
講師は、全員フィリピン人女性。最近の悩みは、イテてる自己紹介ができないこと。

典型的な受験英語野郎の僕は、

I am Takashi Yano（名前）→I am 37 years old（年齢）→ I live in Shibuya, Tokyo.（住んでるところ）からの、I love reading books & cooking（趣味）で、finishしてしまいます。

わ〜！なんてつまんない日本人の男なんだ。。。レアジョブの英会話講師（女子）たちの退屈な様子が、Skypeを通じて、海を越えて、伝わってきます。

寒々しい空気に耐えられないので、「That’s all （以上）！」と僕は言い放ち、次の話題へ逃げる日々が続きました。

しかしついに今日、イケてる自己紹介を見つけました。

アメリカ出身の作家ロジャー・パルバースさんが翻訳した宮沢賢治の詩です。
美しくて、味わい深くて、日本人らしくて、とても気に入っています。━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

東に病気の子供あれば　行って看病してやり
If there is a sick child in the east　He goes there to nurse the child

西に疲れた母あれば　行ってその稲の束を負い
If there is a tired mother in the west　He goes to her and carries her sheaves

南に死にそうな人あれば　行って怖がらなくても良いと言い
If someone is near death in the south　He goes and says, ‘Don’t be afraid’

北に喧嘩や訴訟があれば　つまらないからやめろと言い
If there are strife and lawsuits in the north　He demands that the people put an end to their pettiness

日照りのときは涙を流し　寒さの夏はオロオロ歩き
He weeps at the time of drought　He plods about at a loss during the cold summer

みんなにでくの坊と呼ばれ　褒められもせず
Everybody calls him Blockhead　No one sings his praises

気にもされず
Or takes him to heart

フィリピンも台風が多く、稲作が盛んな島国だと聞いてます。
